Veterinary Infusion Warmer Maintains Pet's Core Body Temperature

Feb. 10, 2022

Veterinary Infusion Warmer TF-III Model

What is a veterinary infusion warmer?

A veterinary infusion warmer is an indirect heating device. The heating principle is that the infusion fluid flows through the infusion tubing during the infusion, and the infusion warmer conducts heat through the infusion tubing to heat the infusion fluid.

Why do pets need veterinary infusion warmers?

Pets feel uncomfortable and in poor spirits both mentally and physically when they are infused. If the fluid infused into the body is too cold, it may irritate an otherwise restless body and emotions. An infusion heater can minimize the pet's restless reaction to cold liquid medication during the infusion process.

In clinical practice, if the infused fluid is preheated to reduce the temperature difference between the blood and the infused fluid, it can improve the mental state of the ill pet. It also promotes better body circulation after the drug in the liquid enters the blood circulation, which is more conducive to the absorption of the drug by the body. At the same time, it can reduce the stress reaction caused by the coldness of the infusion fluid.

Note for use

1. Measure the liquid delivery speed, too fast may lead to inadequate heating of the liquid

2. Keep the device as close to the animal as possible, otherwise, it may cause the fluid to return to room temperature after flowing from the device

3. not very effective on its own, it is recommended to use in combination with other heating means.

Other core heating devices

1. Infrared heating equipment. It is a relatively new heating method that uses infrared light to penetrate tissue to help animals raise their core temperature.

2. Warm fluid flush. Peritoneal flushing can be achieved with the aid of a peritoneal catheter, which transfers heat from the fluid to vital organs and large vessels by injecting warm isotonic fluid and holding it for 20-30 minutes; use with caution in cases of coagulation and ionic disturbances. Bladder and colon irrigation may also be used as a treatment in cases of severe hypothermia but is not particularly effective.
